ABIDJAN, April 22, 2024 – Côte d'Ivoire has taken a significant step towards prioritizing women's empowerment with the launch of the first-ever National Conference of Women of Côte d'Ivoire (ANAFCI). Recognizing that women are integral to the nation's development, this conference provides a platform for Ivorian women to identify solutions for their full participation in society and the economy.
PM and Government Officials Support Women's Empowerment in Côte d'Ivoire
Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé inaugurated the conference at the Sofitel Abidjan Hôtel Ivoire, highlighting its alignment with the government's commitment to a more inclusive and prosperous Côte d'Ivoire. "The recommendations of this meeting will be useful to all ministries and all institutions in Côte d'Ivoire," he stated.
The first edition of ANAFCI centers around the theme: "Federating and promoting feminine energies for the development of Côte d'Ivoire." Prime Minister Mambé acknowledged the significant advancements made in women's conditions since 2012. Yet, he underscored the remaining work, stating: "We must not ignore that major challenges remain to be met if we want to enable women to occupy their full place in our human society."
Minister of State, Minister of the Civil Service and Modernization of the Administration, Anne Désirée Ouloto, patron of the event, rallied women across the country to support the success of these meetings.

Minister of Women, Families and Children, Nassénéba Touré, affirmed the scope of ANAFCI, which will engage women of all backgrounds across Côte d'Ivoire's 14 districts. The goal is a White Paper encapsulating conference recommendations, which she will present to President Ouattara. This underscores the national importance placed on outcomes that benefit and uplift women.
